RAG QUILT

Hi Everyone I plan to do at least one project a month and post it for you to follow along. I'm going to start with a very simple Rag Quilt which is especially good for beginners as you don't have to worry about being too precise about matching your seams.
You will need
1/2 m Green Brushed Cotton
1/2 m Owl Brushed Cotton
1m Cream Brushed Cotton
Scraps of 80/20 wadding

Cut 21 6"x6" Green Squares and 21 6"x6" Owl Squares
Cut 42 6"x6" Cream Squares
Cut 42 4"x4" Squares of wadding

You dont have to be too precise cutting the wadding as you can see I just quickly cut round a coaster which just happened to be the perfect size

Pin all three layers together and quilt from corner to corner

Now join the squares wrong sides together with a 1" seam alternating the squares till you have a strip of
6 squares

Now join the strips to make a checkered pattern. Then snip into the seams about 1/2 apart being careful not to snip the stitching.

Now wash and tumble dry your quilt and you will have a lovely soft cuddly blanket perfect for a little one!

bad,bad,blogger

Hi , I've been a very very bad blogger. I've been so caught up in running the shop that I've neglected to keep updating my news. The shop has been very busy this past few weeks with customers getting ready for Christmas, the Chritsmas lights are now up outside the shop and I hope to get the tree up this week.
I'm going to be at the Strathpeffer Pavillion next week for their craft show, Thursday 8th & Friday 9th , I will have some little things for sale but mostly I will be there to promote the shop and workshops. Workshop list is now available to view online on my website.
I'm trying my hand at some hand quilting , not through choice but because I went over a pin whilst trying to get a quilt finished AAARRRRGGGG!!!!!! so now my machine is back in the cupboard untill I can get it fixed.
I love hand stitching but not when Im under pressure to get it finished before Daughter gets home from Uni as its part of her Xmas present! I can foresee allot of late nights!

2 weeks in ..................

Well that's the shop open two weeks and I'm glad to say Ive been very busy. Ive enjoyed meeting Pats customers and also new customers to the shop. The workshop is progressing well and I hope to have the classes up and running by the end of March.

I'm still managing to find time for a little sewing while shop is quiet
This is one of two little wall hangings for a little girls room that I have to finish.
I think I might add some buttons to finish it off

BT AAAAAARRRRRGGGG!!!

Due to the wonderfully efficient people at BT who have lost all record of my order I will not have a phone line in the shop for the first two weeks. This of course means that I will not be able to accept any chip and pin or credit card transactions, I'm so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.Since starting this project Ive learnt a very valuable lesson , never believe any time frame that may be offered to you!!!

GRAND OPENING - THE 5TH FEBRUARY

Unfortunatly due to delays caused by the weather etc I've had to put back the opening to the 5th February. My apologies to everyone who read one of my flyers and was expecting it to be open on the 29th of January. It has been a very frustrating time with all the hold-ups but we are on track now.

Winter weekend

Well there's nothing else to do on a cold weekend except stitch, apart from the ironing, washing dusting...........but all that can wait. I've made a few Xmas gifts for people this year and I thought you might like to see one in progress. This is a wall hanging that I'm making for my mums new kitchen, shes just bought a lovely cream dresser and the kitchen has a modern country feel to it. So I thought the Cup Cake design with the floral fabric would look great together. Hope she likes it after all the time spent hand stitching!
